Remember the Alamo!!!

I couldn't say that I had been to San Antonio and did not go to one of the most famous landmarks in history. So we made the short two block trip to the Alamo. It is very cool. I have to admit I had to have a little short history lesson myself to remember the events surrounding the Alamo, but it was very interesting. So here are a few pictures of the building that was an old warehouse and mission building before the Texans used it for a safe house. Will post pictures when we return from Huntsville on Saturday!!!!

Our wonderful hotel on the Riverwalk!!

I think that I just experienced one of the longest days of my life!!!!!! One of our awesome teachers, Caroline Woodason, won an educational grant through HP, and she was invited to present her grant at the National Educational Technology Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Our plane left Atlanta at 6:35 Sunday morning, yes we woke up at 3:30am. We arrived in San Antonio around 11:30am and did not go to bed until midnight. Sooooo...we are dead on our feet, but it has been awesome!!! There are four of us that attended this conference. Our principal, Andrea Bradley, Caroline, Jill Ryerson, and me!!! We are currently still here staying at the fabulous Hilton Palacio Del Rio on the Riverwalk. I have never been to San Antonio before, but it has been an amazing trip. Here are some pictures from the trip!!!

Need a Good Movie.......

Last Sunday, we enjoyed a quiet afternoon at home. It was so nice!! We are usually running around trying to squeeze a lot into a small amount of time, but we just spent time at home together. During this time, we watched one of the cutest movies I have seen. You know, I don't go for the Oscar award winning movies or anything. I like a good story with a perfect ending. I know....I live in a fantasy world. But this movie was right up my alley. It is called The Game Plan. "The Rock" who has become quite the actor I must say, is the star, as a football jock whose world is turned upside down by his daughter coming to live with him. This little girl is so precious. But the transformation that he goes through for his little girl is just so sweet!! Yes, I cried through the movie. It was just so perfect!!!!! I know you are thinking Disney, "The Rock", football movie, you have to be kidding, but it was truly one of the best "chick-flick" movies I have seen. Now just call me Ebert and Roper and I can get paid the big bucks!!!!!!

Summer, Summer, Summer Time!!!!!!!!!

Right now, the question asked more than anything, even more than "Are you and Albert ready to have babies?"..... yes, there is one right this moment that gets asked more than this.......The question is "Are you so glad to be out of school?" Now, it is very nice to be out of school, don't get me wrong!! But after a few days off, I find myself getting very bored. There are only so many clothes to wash, drawers to go through (those that know me know I love do these things) and no shopping trips to go to.....we are spending all of our money on gas (like everyone else!!). So.....I get a little restless. I taught summer school for two weeks, and now Albert and I have some "wii" time. No, I'm not being romantic....hahaha!! My awesome parents bit the bullet and bought us a Nintendo Wii for my birthday!!!! Sweet!!! It is awesome!!!I think it is one of the coolest birthday presents that I ever had. You say you have a Wii and everyone wants to be your friend!!!!! Albert and I love it, and most of all we love playing the old school games from our childhood. He rocks at Super Mario II!!! So in answer to the most asked question. Yes, I love being out for the summer, I do miss working, but we are having fun playing the Wii!!!!!!!!!

School's Out!!!!!!!!

At least there are no kids to teach!!!!! This past week was the LONGEST week ever, and we just went to school four days!!!!! The kids were over being there and so was I!!!!!!! Whoever hear of going past Memorial Day?!?!?! I know I will be thankful when we don't have to go back so early......but I thought it would never end. I do have to go until Thursday of this week. Albert and I will both be attending North Whitfield's second annual facutly retreat. This is where we go into the woods (Cohutta Springs retreat center) and the entire faculty spends the night. We have committee sharing time, team building activites, a low ropes course and a book study. It really is fun, and this year we are having three Wiis, so there will be lots of competition (I am getting pretty good at Mario Cart, thanks to our friends John and Tammy Cox, I still can't beat their kids though, they are really good)!!!!! Albert and I will both be gone Wednesday night until Thursday afternoon. John and Tammy if you read this, I might be ready for a rematch when we get back!! HAHA!!!! Have a great end to your weekend!!!

Another Month and No New Posts!!!!

Well, we have been pretty busy....Albert had a GREAT chorus show this past Thursday night. His chorus sang a medley from the musical "Grease"!! The kids (and Albert) did such a wonderful job!!! We have only 4 more days of school (with kids)!!! Tuesday and Wednesday are Olympics, and Thursday is awards day, so we are pretty much done!! We are currently enjoying a fun filled weekend with the Webers, our friends from Hunstville. We are trying our hardest to convince them to move to Dalton, but yet we have to go to Chattanooga to do anything!!!! We went to the Braves game yesterday, on the hottest day of the year, but left in the 7th inning due to heat exahustion from Mandy and Amy (mom-to-be) Weber. Albert is still building on the house on Lake Allatoona in Cobb County, and though it is coming along, this will be the first and last house he builds in Cobb County!! It makes you thankful to live in a smaller town when having to deal with all the red tape there is down there. We are looking forward to summer and maybe a quick trip to the beach sometime soon!!!!
